My name is Antonio Bañares, founder of Antonio Amberes Jewelry.
Born in Madrid, I now live and work in Antwerp — steps away from the world-renowned Diamond District, the historic center of the global diamond trade.
My fascination with diamonds began in 2019, with my first diamond pendant. That moment of admiration turned into real curiosity: I started studying the stone, its certification, and the journey every diamond takes before reaching its final form.
That curiosity took me across the industry — to Sierra Leone, to study rough diamonds at the source, and to Mumbai and Surat, India, to learn about diamond manufacturing and the growing world of lab-grown diamonds.
Along the way, I attended international jewelry trade events and learned from professionals across the industry.
