My name is Antonio Bañares, founder of Antonio Amberes Jewelry.
I was born in Madrid and today I live between Madrid and Antwerp, steps away from the Diamond District, the historic center of the global diamond trade.
From logistics to diamonds
I completed a university degree and a master's in logistics, and for years I held positions of responsibility in logistics and international projects. But the world of jewelry, and above all the world of diamonds, always called to me.
One day I decided to leave my job and start my own business. The first years were not easy, but with perseverance I established myself and achieved my goals.
Learning at the source
To truly understand this world, I went to its source. I have travelled to Sierra Leone twice to learn about rough diamonds. I have also been to Mumbai and Surat, India, the city where most of the world's diamonds are cut, and I have attended international jewelry fairs in Italy and India.
